As well as meaning great anger, the word ‘fury’ was also applied in classical mythology to three goddesses who took terrible vengeance on wrongdoers. What happens when youre a lawyer and a scorned ex-girlfriend lets loose on the internet about your infidelities. Hell Hath No Fury Like An Irish Woman Scorned Model. ( US ) IPA ( key): /hɛl hæθ noʊ ˈfjʊɹi laɪk ə ˈwʊmən skɔɹnd/ The proverb is an adaptation of lines from The Mourning Bride (1697), a play by William Congreve’Heaven has no rage, like love to hatred turned, nor Hell a fury like a woman scorned.’. The " hath" is a hypercorrection based on false chronological assumption and perception that the saying is ancient, dating to at least the grammar of Early Modern English (which the time of writing would be at the end of) this is also reinforced by the phrase often being falsely attributed to Shakespeare. in an attempt to be a generally nice person and a good neighbor. I had this mentally ill neighbor stalk me (as well as all the other females living in my building) because we 'led him on.' He was an elderly man and I used to make small talk with him at the mailbox, etc. English Alternative forms įirst written as "Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd, Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd." in the 1697 play The Mourning Bride ( Act III Scene 2) by William Congreve. The expression is interpreted to mean that no one is as angry as a woman who has been romantically rejected or betrayed. So it should really be, hell hath no fury like a male ego scorned.

To check which version is installed of a given library, you can use the library._version_ attribute after importing the library (package, module) with import library. Here’s an example for pip: pip3 list | findstr pipġ.2.3 Method 4: Module _version_ Attribute To check the versions of a single package on Windows, you can chain pip list with findstr pip using the CMD or Powershell command: pip3 list | findstr pip to locate the version of pip in the output list of package versions automatically. Pip3 list Method 3: pip list findstr on Windows Then try those commands before giving up: python -m pip list In some instances, this will not work-depending on your environment. Here’s a simplified example for Windows Powershell, I’ve highlighted the line that shows the package version is 1.2.3: PS C:\Users\xcent> pip list This will work if your pip installation is version 1.3 or higher. To check the versions of all installed packages, use pip list and locate the version of pip in the output list of package versions sorted alphabetically. Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story in the greatest Metro adventure yet. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.Įxplore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter. Unlike 2033 redux, the original laser did not have a beam projecting out of it a short distance. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.īut now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East. The laser in the original 2033 is much smaller and more pin-point. A collection of tweaks and polishes, do-overs and rejigs that elevates the game to even greater heights, this is a full visual. A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. Well, Metro 2033 Redux is an honest to goodness, genuine remaster. The effect of this curve would be to darken the dark tones, and to lighten the light tones - in effect increasing global contrast on your image. I only push the curves here to illustrate what they do.Ī very common curve adjustment you may hear about is to apply a slight “S” curve to your values. The results of pushing the midtones of the value curve higherĬare should be taken when fiddling with these curves to not blow things out or destroy detail, of course. Because there is only a single point in the curve right now, this means that all values will be pulled higher. In this case, values around 128 were re-mapped to now be closer to 192.īecause the curve is set Smooth, there will be a gradual transition for all the tones surrounding my point to be pulled in the same direction (this makes for a smoother fall-off as opposed to an abrupt change at one value). What this curve does is takes the values around the midtones, and pushes their values to be much lighter than they were. I can do this by clicking on the curve near the midtones, and dragging the curve higher in the Y direction: So to show an example of how this curve will affect your image, suppose I wanted to remap all the values in the image that were in the midtones, and to make them all lighter. The best way to visualize it is to remember that the bottom range from black to white represents the current value of the pixels, and the left range is the value to be mapped to. What we can do right now is to adjust the values of each pixel in the image using this curve. Notice a spike in the high values on the right, and a small gap at the brightest values. In the main area of the dialog I am presented with a linear curve, behind which I will see a histogram of the value data for the entire image (showing the amount of each value across my image). I could also use the drop down for “Channel” to change to red, green or blue curves if I wanted to. We can see that I start off with the curve for the Value of the pixels. Opening up my Curves dialog shows me the following: I’ll be using this wonderful image by Eric from Flickr. So let’s leave your pixel alone for the time being, and actually have a look at the Curves dialog. If we were to change the values of each channel, but kept ratio the same between Red, Green, and Blue, then we would keep the same color and just lighten or darken the pixel by some amount. The RGB components that mix into your final blue pixel.Īs you can see, there is more blue than anything else (it is a blue-ish pixel after all), followed by green, then a dash of red. So now let’s see what goes into making up your pixel: If all three channels have the same value, then you will get a shade of gray (128,128,128 would be a middle gray color for instance). If all three channels have a value of 0 - then the resulting color will be pure black. If all three channels have a value of 255 - then the resulting color will be pure white. In GIMP (currently at 8-bit), that means that each RGB color can have a value from 0 - 255, and combining these three colors with varying levels in each channel will result in all the colors you can see in your image. Remember, each pixel is represented by a combination of 3 colors: Red, Green, and Blue. So let’s investigate what goes into making your pixel. Your Pixels and You ¶įirst there’s something you need to consider if you haven’t before, and that’s what goes into representing a colored pixel on your screen.Īaand there’s your pixel. Even though GIMP is used to demonstrate these ideas, the principles are generic to just about any RGB curve adjustments. Instead, we are going to take a look at the use of the Curves tool in GIMP. Volumes have been written on color and I am in no ways even remotely qualified to speak on it. We associate colors with certain moods, places, feelings, and memories (consciously or not). From the warm glow of a sunny summer afternoon to a cool refreshing early evening in fall. Color has this amazing ability to evoke emotional responses from us. Or, you can use the Select feature to automatically select all duplicates for removal. To get rid of unwanted duplicates, you need to select them in this app first. You can easily preview them side by side. Once the app finishes finding duplicate photos and similar ones, it will display them for you to view and manage. Note: The threshold doesn’t affect the identification of duplicate photos at all. A user needs to try a few times until he or she finds the appropriate threshold. When the threshold was 45%, the app found five more groups, but one group was a false positive. Setting the threshold between 50% to 75% only found a few groups of similar photos. If the threshold is 100%, then the app will only search for duplicates. The threshold is adjustable and is 75% by default. In the app, there is a setting called Similarity Threshold. This duplicate photo finder and cleaner can also find similar photos on computer based on visual similarity. To find duplicate photos on an iPhone or Android phone, use the Mobile SmartScan mode. To find duplicates in Lightroom, Picasa or Apple Photos, use the mode that fits. If you want to scan a folder or drive for duplicate photos, the Standard scan mode is what you need. In the test, it quickly scanned a folder with over 500 photos and found all the duplicates. Therefore, it does a good job of finding duplicate photos. The algorithm that it uses can identify duplicate images by content. This app supports all popular image formats, including popular raw image formats. All modes allow you to find duplicate photos (photos that are exactly identical regardless of name). Developed by WebMinds, Duplicate Photo Cleaner (DPC) is an app that identifies and cleans up duplicate photos and similar photos on Windows PC and Mac. The jungle feels alive with all the various animal and nature sounds and you can identify incoming threats sometimes from the sound effects alone. The game does truly shine with its sound design. The lead developer at Panache Digital, Patrice Desilets, was the creator of Assassin's Creed that influence is all over Ancestors, as it can often look like something out of one of Ubisoft's many collect-a-thons. It kind of ruins the immersion of being a hominid when you’re basically just looking at various triangles and squares. The game wants you use your intelligence and senses a lot, which often turns this lovely jungle world into a mess of question marks and various icons scattered around. Many times I found myself being prompted to intimidate nearby predators, despite not being able to find what was trying to kill me. That being said, in some areas the plant life is so thick and lush that it can be hard to find the various snakes or other beasts that are hunting you down. Learning how to make a sharp stick is a pretty big step forward. Early on, the skills you earn don’t seem all that great but then again, you’re literally playing a ape-man. Communication skills are gaining by interacting with others, new tools can be found by fooling around with rocks, and so on. As these monkeys sleep, the synapses in their brains fire off until they learn how to hold things in their other hand, or gain the ability to hear further away. They also learn just by doing things, kind of like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. In this game, evolving is just a fancy way of describing the skill tree. You then scan your surroundings and go to the various markers around in order to discover new plants, items, locations, or even wildlife. You should probably get used to using this, as a lot of the game depends on having a decent level of perception of the world around you. Gaining knowledge is pretty much the main drive of Ancestors. To do this, there's a kind of monkey radar, where you can use your limited intelligence as well as your senses of smell and hearing to detect things around the area. The game is apparently the first of a trilogy, so hopefully it’ll grow into something truly incredible, but whats there now seems a very solid base to build on.Travelling around the jungle is fun as the movement feels great: climbing and jumping around is probably the best part of the game. In the end I was hoping there would be more. They have no clue what they’re doing either, they just figure it out faster than the OP here and get on with evolving into the endgame. If you want a good idea on how it plays, watch a couple of those vids. TagBackTV was the guy I mostly watched, mostly because his commentary is pretty solid and entertaining. Not enough to buy it, these games arent really for me, but watching them advance through to the end was an interesting watch. I stumbled across a couple of guys streaming it at launch, and it really sucked me in. Its an interesting take on the ol’ skill tree, and forces/encourages you to explore and not just build a fortress like most survival games. Doing that sort of stuff gets you the experience needed to unlock abilities and grow your clan. Find an area, investigate stuff, confront your fear, repeat. Once you figure out the gameplay loop, it seems pretty straightforward. While I really want Ancestors to hold my hand a little, especially to begin with, it does make for a more rewarding experience when you finally start to get it. The reviews have been harsh on this front, the game gives you very little information. I suspect I’ll eventually become better acquainted with the controls and dying will be less frequent and devastating. It also means I’m less likely to adventure out because each trip could (and often does) mean death. It makes me feel like a dick for not trying harder. And the game makes you confront your mistakes by leaving the apes’ bodies lay where they died. Unlike dying in Assassin’s Creed or Fallout, for example, there’s no going back. There are rogue apes out there in the map, it’s possible I can recruit them to save my clan’s existence but I still have no idea how to. See the thing that stands out to me isn’t the tough gameplay, it’s the time you invest into a single playthrough and how each clan death can’t be quickly undone with a strategic load. In one fell swoop, I killed humanity, or at least most of a single clan. Three apes dead in the space of two days. |
